Steven Jones: Team Captain
My name is Steven Jones, and I am the Punisher Racing Team Captain, and the driver of the Punisher Nova. I was born in Humboldt County, California, in the small country town of Fortuna, at Ronerville Hospital, January 12th, 1968. After my birth, it wasn't too long (only four years later) that my racing spirit was discovered. First it was BMX bicycles for a couple of years, then on to Go-Carts.

Then, at 14 and a half years old, I bought my first car: a 1971 Vega. (Not even old enough to drive - legally!) I built that car by myself, and in 17 months, I had it ready to drive to school. Having had my driver's license for only three weeks, I found myself at the drag strip, sitting out on the starting line, with my car. And with that first 18.02 second pass down the race track, I knew what my destiny was.

I can tell you, there is no better feeling than how I felt in that period of time, when it was just me, the competitor next to me, and the racetrack. I can't explain it; you'd have to experience it to know what I'm talking about.

Since then I've raced a 1961 Chevy Pickup, a '70 Chevelle, a '65 nova, a '63 nova, a '71 Chevelle, and to present, a '69 Nova. I have not been without a race car since I was 16 years old, and I'm 39 now. My most memorable time at the racetrack was my first number-one qualifier at Pomona, CA (when I was racing with the Good Guys organization) and taking out the points leader in the first round.

My favourite drivers: Pro Mod: Shannon Jenkins (The Ice-Man). Pro Stock: Dave Connelly, Jeg Coughlin. Funny Car: Ron Capps, Mike Ashley, Fast Jack Beckman. Top Fuel Dragster: Doug Herbert, J.R. Todd.

I run a hot rod shop in Colfax, CA, called Rouskie's Rod Shop, where I build racecars and street rods. Full restorations, to major repair, and to full maintenance.

My fastest pass in the car that I race now has been 9.73 at 138.42 mph in the '69 Punisher Nova. And the funnest moment at the racetrack is always when you're not in the points contention, and you get to play the spoiler, and get to take the guys out that are trying to win a points championship. (Nothing feels better!) My ambitions are to end up in a Pro Mod ride in the future, and become a World Champion.
